This type of email feeds into the hopes and dreams of emerging authors. There is NO WAY someone like Rebecca Yarros knows about me: a self-published author who's never ranked higher than #84 (once) on Amazon.

This scammer is only seeking to get my raw material. Once they have it, they'll feed it into an AI machine that spits out something that's only a shell of the kind of story I write. Something without wonder, without heart, without EMOTION.

To this scammer I say: Fuck you. Do you think I was born yesterday? 😑

Scammers are taking things to a whole new level of desperation. It's abhorrent and disgusting, and it needs to stop. It won't, of course, but I hate that we live in a society where this is the norm.

All we can do is report and blockβ€”and hope that by sharing experiences like this, others don't fall into their trap.
