oh, I should do an introductory post

my name is Star. I really love computer stuff so you're probably gonna see me posting about nothing but computers. I'm practically ancient (in my late 30s) so of course naturally I decided now is the time I wanna learn how to code!

I mighta liked to have done it sooner but I didn't really have access to the stuff I woulda wanted and honestly I think having a teacher would be better than the way I'm learning now (mainly boot.dev) cause asking a person questions is better than asking an AI questions...

I also wanna learn how to solder. I have done soldering and have the stuff for it but I'm not very good at it yet. I gotta practice more. right now putting stuff on isn't the issue so much as pulling stuff off. and I have stuff I'd like to recap but right now I'm very likely to just lift off the pads =-= so I gotta buy more stuff to practice with o.o

lemme see...

I mentioned before that I like to do distrohops on Sundays. not every Sunday just Sundays. really depends on who's driving the body at the time

I'm a firm believer in FOSS software and I really feel sad that so many people prioritize convenience over things that better respect their freedoms and the freedoms of society as a whole

proprietary software isn't inherently bad but a lot of it is centered around data collection because, whether corporations charge you for the product or not, they still profit off of having your data whether that's selling that information to scammers and advertisement agencies or giving your information to the government. I do not think this is ethical and frankly I don't think people are so hopeless that they can't deal with a learning curve

convenience is the death of freedom

anyway, that's all I gotta say. maybe I'm sad that AI became an unethical data collection nightmare that violates the consent of countless people, but I guess you shouldn't expect better from poorly regulated captialism
