The March on Gaza was organized as an attempt to break the Israeli siege of Gaza and demand an end to the genocide of the Palestinian people by Israeli forces.

The march was never able to start as Egyptian authorities violently suppressed it at checkpoints and sought out activists at hotels and across the country, beating activists and taking their personal belongings including passports before forcibly deporting hundreds.
