Speaking as the person who translated that: I watched alongside a Youtube playthrough of the game to try to understand as much of the dialogue in context as I could. But obviously, this strategy has its limits: even the most thorough playthrough is likely to miss some dialogue, leaving the translator to make an educated guess regarding the context for a given line.
