It's like people who claim STEM is the only knowledge that matters, and dismiss the innate value of art as being some kind of pointless hobby.
Perhaps they don't have the empathy needed to understand why art and artists are also necessary?
(I mean any kind of sincere art here, where someone is trying to express something that means a lot to them.)

I used to say these people don’t read, but that’s clearly not true because they read a ton of nonfiction/self help/productivity books but fiction teaches empathy and different points of view which is why they don’t like art
