Something I'm curious about: How familiar are you with the states or provinces in other countries?
Most non-Americans could at the very least name many of the states in the USA.
But what about other countries? How many people know some or all of the states or provinces in countries other than their own?
For example, could you name the provinces or states of Canada? Mexico? Australia? Russia? Germany? France? Brazil?
And conversely, the stereotype of Americans is that they don't have a deep awareness of the world beyond their borders.
But is that really true? Or do many Americans have a better knowledge of other countries, including states and provinces, than the rest of the world realises?
(Before you at me, yes I know not all Americans. But just search American geography quiz if you don't believe it's a stereotype!)
Also, in many of my posts, I refer to Australian states. I presume that most of the people reading them overseas understand that when I mention Victoria or New South Wakes, for eg., I'm talking about Australian stares. Just want to check that's the case?
So, if you're reading this, I'm keen to learn:
1) Which country are you from?
2) Which countries, other than your own, could you name all or most of the states or provinces in without looking at a map?
3) Which countries, other than your own, could you name at least some of the states or provinces without looking at a map?
