It is my understanding that the most stable environment to program one is a game console, the older the better! If you jailbreak it, or have an emulator.

In part this is because games traditionally don't get that many updates, if any. Gamedevs (at least older ones) want to finish their project & be done.

And gamers want to keep playing the games they love, so they make sure the consoles stick around!
