WRONG.

- XFCE4 is working on Wayland and has gotten far, most components ported
- MATE has all their desired components ported
- LxQT is also working on Wayland and has a To-Do as well as many screenshots of LxQT on Wayland on their website
- Lomiri/unity8 does Wayland by default nowadays in distributions like Ubuntu Touch by UBPorts
- The Enlightenment Project runs under Wayland.
- The elementaryOS people have made great progress porting Pantheon to Wayland and have a Wayland session since the elementaryOS 8 release
- Even budgie is adopting Wayland

In other words, all your favourite desktops are moving. unless you use Trinity in which case the last mention of Wayland was 6 years ago.
