Question about Bahasa Indonesia:

I’m trying to understand the word “mandiri” (independent/autonomous).

Since “diri” means “self” and “sendiri” means “alone”, I always assumed that the “sen” in “sendiri” derives from “satu”. Is that true? If not, where does it come from or what does it mean? And where then does the “man” in “mandiri” come from?
