Various groups of the , a Mongol-speaking people, settled in Transbaikal (Siberia) beginning in the eighteenth century. In September 2008, a specialist in Siberian peoples collects samples of saliva, while recording versions of family genealogies, in order to compare representations of identity with genetic identity. These studies are part of a larger program of research on the origin of the populations of Central Asia.
