Policymakers failing to deal with extreme weather impact

Shweta Narayan, campaign lead at Global Climate and Health Alliance, a consortium of health professionals and civil society organisations around the world, says evidence gathered by the group “shows that these extreme weather events are getting even more intense, more dangerous, and more extreme because of the climate crisis”.

With the rise in global warming, storms have become intense, and warming oceans have made hurricanes relatively stagnant, leading to intense rainfall and flooding,

Referring to this week’s widespread devastation across the Asian countries, Narayan said the governments and cities have “failed to prepare at all to deal with the consequences of the extreme weather events.”
