Turtle basking

Red-eared sliders are a subspecies of pond slider turtle known for their red stripe behind each eye. The turtle in the image is demonstrating a common behavior called basking, where it extends its neck and limbs to absorb sunlight.
As cold-blooded animals, turtles rely on external sources like the sun to regulate their body temperature.

Basking helps to dry out their shell and skin, which can prevent the growth of fungus and algae, and can also help them shed parasites.
