Golden Toad aka Monte Verde Toad (Incilius periglenes), family Bufonidae, was found in the Monteverde Cloud Forest region of northern #CostaRica
Poisonous.
EXTINCT.
The last documented sighting of this frog was in 1989. It is not clear why they went extinct.
The 2 major hypotheses for the cause of their decline and extinction are 1. Climate Change and 2. Chytrid fungus.
