As the war intensified amid mounting evidence that the RSF wanted to eradicate Darfur’s non-Arab communities, thousands of #women and girls took up arms to defend their lands. It is unclear how many have been killed attempting to protect their territory. A handful, however, have become legends. They include Hanadi Dawood, 22, who died defending Zamzam, and Sāra Bakhit, 43, who perished in the fall of El Fasher. This picture was taken in Dar Zaghawa in October last year.
