I'm obviously not getting the video finished this year, but I did manage to finish assembly of the globe before midnight, at least. Happy new year!

A stained glass southern hemisphere, seen from directly above the south pole. It is glowing from a fairly diffuse light source sitting under it. Antarctica is a streaky white, the oceans are a transparent blue so light that it barely shows in the light, and what other landmasses can be see are a green/brown art glass.

Same, seen from the side showing Australia and New Zealand. Australia is far too green.

Same, but now seeing South America stretching up to the Antarctic Peninsula. The Andes are decently implied by a dark green streak in the glass.
