I have to give it to (most) modern gadgets (devices) - their lifespans are pretty good these days. Here's one example - my wife is still using my almost 10 years old iPad Pro (1st) gen quite actively every day and it works pretty well. (despite no longer receiving OS updates since 2023) My father uses my old iPhone XS and my old Apple Watch 3 (4?) and they serve him well overall.

Most laptops and phones can easily do 5+ years, battery degradation aside. And Kindles (and alternatives) can pull much longer.

Of course, that doesn't matter much, as our society encourages us to buy the latest and greatest gadgets each year…
