@futurebirdmyrmepropagandist if our rods are sensitive in a different bit of the spectrum, why aren't we using them as additional colour information? Something to do with their sensitivity or where they are located?

@futurebirdmyrmepropagandist rods are only sensitive at low levels of light. they deactivate at the light levels cones are sensitive at, so it’s hard to get them to activate at the same time
it is possible though- if you’ve ever been in a dimly lit room with an alarm clock with a red light display, and noticed how the vision of the room doesn’t quite line up with the red lights.. like it’s… lagging! that’s your rods responding at a different rate from your red cones
