'Shōwa-no-hi' (昭和の日) is the birthday of Emperor Shōwa.
Already a holiday during the emperor's lifetime, it remained so after his death...rebranded first as 'Greenery Day'.
In 2007 'Greenery Day' (みどりの日 'Midori-no-hi') was moved to May 4th and April 29th we re-rebranded as 'Shōwa Day'.
Nowadays 'Shōwa-no-hi' is considered a time for reflection of the past, especially for the turbulent events during the reign of Emperor Hirohito.
