I've read and listened to Yanis Varoufakis many times - but one thing he Tweeted about recently made me immensely sad.

In #Romania, the electoral authority denied the candidacy of the fascist Călin Georgescu. Varoufakis is saying that this is wrong, that we (as progressives) should defeat the fascists at the ballot box.

Here are the two reasons why I wish Varoufakis would have platformed a voice with local knowledge, instead of platforming his own, misinformed take.

Yanis Varoufakis tweeting "What happened to basic principles of democracy? I loathe ultra-rightists like Georgescu. But I demand that we, progressives, defeat his like at the ballot box. The EU is now under the thumb of Totalitarian Centrists, the ultra-Right's greatest sponsors."
