My absolute favorite fact in the world is that New York City's Outerbridge Crossing is named after a dude: Eugenius Harvey Outerbridge.

That's why it's a "crossing," because "Outerbridge Bridge" seemed ridiculous.

But when you first learn that it's like hearing they named the building after Samuel Empirestatebuilding.
