You've been really good at staying focused on immediate/obvious utility, that's probably why Pixelfed has done so well.

In other news, I have started working on getting code into Linux kernel to support EcoNet devices (20$ fiber/dsl modems): https://econet-linux.pkt.wiki/
I even applied to NLnet to see if they want to support it, would be fun to do this full time for a year ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
