For no particular reason at all, I'm now wondering what percentage of the manufacturing cost of hard drives goes to components that are relatively insensitive to the HDD's capacity and how much goes to things that cost increasingly more as the capacity goes up.

(Eg, the external case and probably controller seems likely to be close to a fixed cost regardless of the capacity.)
