Current Toronto weather status: Clearly I can skip preparing the bike (and its lights) for a bike commute tomorrow, but I'd probably better prep the boots.
(My non-boot, non-sandal footwear is not water/snow proof and is in dire need of replacement. But it is conveniently lightweight, so I wear it for the more pleasant winter weather.)
