@codinghorrorJeff Atwood science and data are not neutral, nor are the tools. You can’t rationalise your way out of this without including the social side of these technologies. This may well include some of the “zealotry” and “religion” you’re talking about, but then it’s not clear what you mean by these either. There is a significant moral angle that needs to be included in this discussion, and that needs the social side. You can’t get around it.
