I know some people take a different view, but cultural normality with the West is critical to the myth of Israel.
Making it unacceptable to partake in cultural activity with Israel is really powerful.
Israel gets away with almost all it does because it portrays itself as "on our side, one of us".
It was a big factor in bringing forward the end of apartheid South Africa.

Yes, the great joke of Israel is that zionists were so desperate for its creation but have nothing but contempt for the region, its cultures and peoples. It really illustrates how Israel is a 20th century European colonial project, not the product of an authentic jewish desire for "the motherland".
Zionist settlers have so little connection to the place.
