question regarding flash storage for archival purpose

is there any difference between usb sticks and SSDs?
thinking of getting something to store moving media on (to archive our favorites) and possibly put it into our raspberry pi server for seeding while not in use

it would either way be connected via usb, so connector format doesnt play any role
