@codinghorrorJeff Atwood @jhooper It's not the harvesting that's the problem, it's the massive infringement of Moral Rights (see the Berne Convention) and plagiarism that the LLMs subsequently engage in. An LLM is not the same as a web search index.

Secondary point: web indexer bots direct users *to* the original material they harvested. LLMs direct users *away from* the original material. A tangible damage replaces a beneficial use.
