I will be curious; if Bluesky is rolling out a AI-generated meme service there, it's very feasible it will be well received there. On the fediverse it definitely wouldn't be. I would be pretty unhappy to have my feed fill up with ai-generated memes I'm pretty sure and I suspect most of the people I follow feel the same. But maybe on Bluesky people will be happy with it; vibes around AI stuff tend to be pretty different there.

Ok! Update, that's *not* why they're building it. They're actually building it in an attempt to detect and downplay cheap AI-generated content. Interesting! I wonder if it will work

UPDATE TO UPDATE: Maybe just low quality memes generally, not just ai generated ones, it's hard to tell

Why: I'm certain someone can connect the dots and figure out why one might reasonably build a random slop meme generator

Christine: I mean with a phrase like "connect the dots" it makes me wonder if I am not connecting them. The reason I would assume is that you all think people want to be able to post custom memes more easily; is there a different one?

Kuba Suder: Spoiler: they've been working recently on tweaking the models running Discover to downrank slop content like low quality anti-Trump memes

Christine: See, glad someone connected the dots for me, because it looked like it was going in the opposite direction!

Christine: I am curious how this works though, since AI isn't particularly great at detecting AI per my understanding, if that's the intention of the tool to be used
