@Aleumsmanic pixie donkey kong Is it really a mystery? It's the same word formation as "multiverse". And the last part of a compound word defines its nature, which is clearly a noun. Why not just say the fediverse is diverse? I've been saying that.

@Aleumsmanic pixie donkey kong The origin, per my memory, is that the original phrase was "Identiverse", back in the days of identi.ca and StatusNet, to refer to the kind of communication happening on there. But then there were more and more StatusNet / OStatus nodes coming online, and people running other servers said it didn't make sense to call the wider federated network the "identiverse", so we should use "fediverse" as an alternative.
