In 2020, during the covid lockdown, people were either WAY more stressed because forced to work on-site and exposed to disease, or spent way more time online due to work-from-home.
Chiptune shows took place online instead of IRL: Chipfest Cyberspace, Infinite Lives, Micromusic Italy...
Then the Black Lives Matter protests began, then took place all over the world. Chiptune shows directed their earnings to groups that fight racial inequality.
