sub, computer rant

Reading about Windows installation on fedi reminds me of something I went through recently -

We were donating a laptop to a child to help them finish school. I was helping with tasks like cleaning out old data.

I wanted to install linux because I had expected Microsoft account to be a hassle. I did not in the end. The child was fighting homelessness and struggling to keep up. I did not want to make it harder.

sub, computer rant or just rant

But Windows made it even harder to skip linking up a Microsoft account. The old trick of staying disconnected no longer worked.

At some point, the assumption of connectivity becomes a barrier, an injustice - not just internet connectivity but also mistakening lack of representation as inexistence, lack of voice as having nothing to say.

And that, is an issue.
