As news of the massive solar storm makes the rounds, my belief is once again reaffirmed that the Northern Lights are an icelandic tourism conspiracy, because we're way north with a very dark patch of sky and there's sod all out there.

On the other hand, it turns out to be an incredibly clear night, and the sky is just _full_ of stars, more than I've ever seen with the naked eye.

So, I didn't see the aurora, but otoh I got to stand under the Milky Way in full bloom for a while, and that's pretty good.
