Starter Kits are pretty complex, but the consent driven overhead is required to prevent abuse and encourage healthy and relevant usage.

Admins can opt for manual review for each kit, or set an auto approval limit for users with X or more followers, or remove limits entirely.

People can decide who can add or request them to Starter Kits, and manage notifications in a new separate tab (coming to the next app release too)

They will federate and be compat with Mastodon Starter Packs too ✨

If you have a fediverse account, you can quote this note from your own instance. Search https://mastodon.social/users/dansup/statuses/116153480425862055 on your instance and quote it. (Note that quoting is not supported in Mastodon.)

RE: mastodon.social/@dansup/116153

I know the federated nature of Starter Kits does open up the potential for abuse in other ways, like in the request notifications, so I will add the ability for admins to reject requests from specific servers, or only allow them from an allowlist of servers.

It's not my place to enforce federation restrictions, so I will leave that up to each admin and person to manage.

I do think we're solving many of the complaints that BlueSky Starter Packs has by the consent-driven nature
