My one suggestion for the @Mastodon team is to partner with hosting companies, & allow people to setup an instance on their own domain.

People could purchase the plans they prefer, & Mastodon could get a commission for referring people.

I think all official apps should do this!

If you have a fediverse account, you can quote this note from your own instance. Search https://one.darnell.one/users/darnell/statuses/116094450229223388 on your instance and quote it. (Note that quoting is not supported in Mastodon.)

RE: one.darnell.one/@darnell/11609

We need an instance for public institutions, government actors, non-profit companies even public figures of interest.

I can setup the host, and I am sure we can charge a tiny amount per user to fund the hosting, but I am afraid of the moderation overhead, I would need help with that.
