I've read that experiencing events as a series of snapshots or discrete scenes is a telltale sign of war trauma.
Just in case anyone outside of your area things "oh how cute they're getting scrapbooks of memories" - no, this is what happens when the brain is highly stressed and searing some memories indelibly while suppressing retention of others, because knowing where the potentially lethal threat is coming from must be retained, and other memory production is impaired (possibly as a survival mechanism to later have less conscious trauma to process).
