The Common Archduke caterpillar (Lexias pardalis) is a pale green, angular caterpillar found in Southeast Asia. It has defensive spines which look like twigs. When alarmed, the caterpillar reacts by curling its body inward and hiding its head under an "umbrella" created by its dense, radiating spines. Can change to match the varying hues of its host plant's leaves, after hatching it eats its own eggshell.
