A large cottonwood tree dominates the center of the frame, its pale white branches adorned with brilliant golden-yellow leaves that glow warmly against the surrounding muted tones. The tree's intricate branching structure is visible through the thinning foliage. Surrounding it are a mix of bare and partially leafed trees in cool blue-gray tones, scattered dark green conifers, and patches of russet-brown and copper-colored vegetation. The cool, shadowed backdrop creates a striking contrast that makes the central golden tree appear almost luminous, capturing the fleeting peak of fall color.
