I always try to keep these conversations as simple and high-level as possible. I just shared the concept of tokens, that get turned into numbers, that get fed into a bunch of functions, that generate new numbers that get turned back into a sequence of tokens.

They were quite happy to learn this. Their main question: "Is it okay to ask it philosophical questions?"
