@mcc i'm pretty sure the latter; cargo uses the first non-zero field in a version as the major, then goes minor and patch, so it'll think that any 0.x.y and 0.x.z are compatible as long as x == x

@mcc in this case the two variants are equivalent, but if you had a major version specified, "1.2" is equivalent to "later than or equal to 1.2.0 but earlier than 2.0.0" whereas "1.2.*" is equivalent to "later than or equal to 1.2.0 but earlier than 1.3.0"
