re: Rice cooker Mujaddara: world's simplest dish which is also good

@mlemwebDr. Morgan Lemmer-Webber @cwebberChristine Lemmer-Webber this post popped by my timeline 3 days ago and iโ€™ve since tried it twice and enjoyed it both times. thank you both!

first time: rice+brown lentils+couple of cloves of lightly fried garlic. fried garlic+onions with some cumin. served with yoghurt + freshly chopped mint.

felt it could do with a little more flavour; basically everyone added hot sauce (but enjoyed it!)

second time (today): rice+red lentils+couple of cloves of lightly fried garlic+vegetable stock. fried garlic+onions with some spicy paprika, garram masala and cayene pepper. served with yoghurt again. also fried up some leftover schnitzel-substitute to top.

i loved this one. i think three cups of water was actually a little too little with this combo, probably because red lentils are denser. what came out of the rice cooker actually had a texture a bit like the mashed potato on top of a shepherds pie. it felt very different from our usual fare and very flavourfiul. will definitely cook again.
