Image saving

Hello, recently I've came across a problem with the image saving in my nodebb. When the server restarts all the image data is lost. I would like to ask 1.how images are exactly saved? 2. can i save them in the database? 3. or is there any better way to save images on nodebb? Maybe some plugins? Thanks in advance for any discussion/comments on this topic
