@evanEvan Prodromou @scottjenson Wow, this was news to me. Being a former participant of the AtomPub WG, I’m surprised to learn that a “Mastodon API” even exists. What was the rationale behind creating it over using ActivityPub?

@bitbearAsbjørn Ulsberg @scottjenson I'm sure you'll be happy to hear that AtomPub was an immediate parent to the ActivityPub API. Back when Activity Streams was an Atom extension, I made an API for GNU Social that was AtomPub + Activity Streams markup.
