hmm youtu.be/QDoasQC2IJM my unanswered question is why the submerged part of the tower rotates in the water: wouldn’t that have bad losses from viscosity? my guess would be that it’s better to enclose the rotating shaft, that friction in bearings would be lower… tho maybe they need less steel if they don’t have separate shaft and hull, and that’s enough to offset the need for more turbines?
