Last night someone asked "If Hollywood is so fucking 'woke', why do we NEVER see this plot" with regard to abortion.

Hollywood operates under the same white Christian patriarchal norms shaping most other US industries; they're financed by the same venture capital and investment banks.

You only have to note how the percentage of women directors and the percentage of spoken lines by women have remained stubbornly south of 50% to understand why abortion hasn't been normalized in US cinema.
