@Em0nM4stodonEm Meta, the owner is Facebook and Instagram and maker of the smart glasses, notes that the glasses are supposed to display a light when recording and are tamper resistant, and that you shouldn't use then for harassment. Also, from the article:

We put our findings to Meta. It says it will "continually review opportunities to enhance our AI glasses, informed by customer feedback and ongoing research".

So basically they are treating this article as free advertising. "We do kinda the bare minimum, and the product is always improving!" Assholes.

I think @404mediaco404 Media covered this & there's some guy you can order the glasses from who will not only disable the LED but also bypass whatever tamper mechanism they have for detecting that you've disabled the LED...

So totally surreptitious recording...
