According to a very reliable source (video games), when lockpicking goes wrong, the lockpick is often DESTROYED by being snapped in half.
For this reason I advise you to always carry extra picks with you!

Very true, unless you are Jill Valentine, the master of unlocking, who uses one single, reusable lockpick, because she is just *that* good at it.
