Raised sign carved on the face of a stone “Queen St. Subway.” and “1897.” are the most visible words; the remainder are eroded names (mayor Fleming, contractor). The sign is one face of a stone block, atop of a large column of rough hewn stones set like bricks that act as a bridge support and retaining wall. Behind and above the sign, some trees, a bit of sky, and the edge of a multistorey apartment building are visible. Photo is black-and-white although the day was fairly grey so it was already pretty much black and white before photo alteration.
