Yes, the SAVE Act is fucking horrible, and yes, it’s clearly intended to disenfranchise women — but also, sometimes, men change their name when they get married (hi,yes, it’s me, my wife and I both changed surnames at marriage), and it’s entirely possible to talk about the impacts of the bill on people who changed their name when they got married without gendering the description of the affected people. </whinge>
