So, despite all our problems in the OSS community, I understand why people put code on forges (github, etc) and have been doing so for years. I understand the collaborative nature of development and the varied array of motivations one might have to create software either in public, or collaboratively with the public.

I … cannot figure out why anyone is doing this with "AI" models. Why do people upload weights to Ollama or Huggingface? What is (are) the incentive structure(s) there?
