@glyph My screaming yesterday was basically this sort of problem.
5 line function. Figuring out how to _test it_ took hours.
(Now it's two functions, and adding help messages doubled the lines of code.)
It's the stages of grief.
"I'm done, it just needs tests."
"Hmm. This line is really hard to cover. Maybe I can just add a coverage skip and work it out with the reviewer?"
"Damnit. It should work. It *DID* work before I started fixing it to be testable."
"It's not done. It's never going to be done."
"Okay maybe I need to just, reconsider the architecture and start over."
